God I hate headliners. I’m fine with working on basically anything else on an interior, but I hate headliners.

My son and I have to pull the headliner out of his 200sx. The sun-roof is leaking, and I want to make sure the rear drain lines are clear, and it’s the only way to access them. That, and the headliner is sagging, and it’s pretty gross. We’re either going to replace the cloth, or scrape it clean of the foam and spray paint it, let it dry for a few weeks, and re-install it.

Huh, did the same thing at work. Not a fan myself. I prefer electrical work and diagnosis. Took me about 30 minutes, though.

Call me crazy, but I used small upholstery staples to replace my headliner and it’s holding up great. Took 10 minutes, vs 8+ hours for a full removal and correction (which also creates weird bunching around the seams and corners). It seems to have staved off further drooping. Not ideal, but on a 20-year-old car I’m content enough.

Took me a second to realize I wasn't looking at the result of a rollover in the first pic.

the upside to owning a convertible - you get to replace the whole roof when it goes bad!
